Learn how to become a Travelpreneur so you do not need to choose between starting your business and travel, but you can do both.
Mia, tell us a little about yourself and the idea behind Travelpreneur Tribe.
I was born in one of the most amazing countries in the world without even knowing it, until I started to explore the world and realizing that my heart is always taking me back to my beautiful Croatia, its rich culture, warm people and breathtaking landscapes.
The desire to explore and travel brought me to New York, the global melting pot where people, cultures and languages meet and where it really does not matter who you are, or where you are from, as you are part of something bigger that only very few can dream off.
I am fascinated with the world itself, its people, cultures and languages and always extremely curious to continue exploring new horizons, with a constant feeling that there is not enough time to experience everything that I want to see.
I tend to be very flexible, open minded with many interests and passions, and you can always find me doing something that stimulates my body, mind and spirit.
I have spent most of my career in the tourism and technology industries and the inspiration for Travelpreneur Tribe came from the desire to share my love of travel & tech, and to create opportunities for people to enhance their lives by starting their entrepreneurial journey.
I recognized a need for a supportive environment to start your company away from the hustle and bustle of that corporate job, but without the pressure of intensive 3-day weekends, and envisioned a retreat that combined relaxation, play and made the startup process fun.
What is your personal mission?
My personal mission is to lead a happy, fulfilling life where I am free to live and work on my own terms, while helping people do the same.
As part of my mission I want to empower entrepreneurs by providing enriching, fulfilling and rewarding environments to start their online businesses while traveling the world.
And to building a global community of travelpreneurs by connecting like-minded entrepreneurs, startup coaches, and industry experts to create innovative products and meaningful relationships and to become part of something bigger than themselves.

What does it take to start your own business?
Before one is ready to run their own business they must be in the right mindset to start their business. What I find is that a lot of people are thinking they are not good enough, smart enough or knowledgeable to start their own business. Or that they do not have enough time, money or ideas to get them started.
Having the right mindset begins with identifying what you really want. Without having that clear picture in your head of what success looks like for you, you will never know if you are on the right path.
But once when you overcome this hurdle and know what you are after, surround yourself with people who are already there, who are more successful than you and ask them for advice and help, you will be armed with the right mindset and tools to get you off the ground. And then start building a plan on how to get there.
For me personally it was important to start a business in areas that I am most passionate about. Because I knew that as a new entrepreneur with little resources, I will be spending a lot of my time working on excruciating details, and if I am not passionate about it – it will not get done.
What does it take to run your own business?
So that brings us to the second part. So now you know you are ready to start your business, but what does it take to run it.
I truly believe that the only limit to one’s impact is their imagination and commitment. Many of the most successful entrepreneurs failed in some first, second and or more businesses. Many of us fail and experience setbacks, but you can not let this stop you from trying again, until you find the right formula to bring it all together and make it profitable.
When you start working for yourself, you are always working. From the time that you wake up in the morning until you go to bed. Your mind is filled with thinking on how to increase sales, how to get more done, how to handle challenges and how to get more time out of each day. You need to be focused, self disciplined, intelligent and strategic. And always open to learning new things that will help your actually run a business.
One of the things that one will learn very quickly is that you can not do it yourself. You need to have a team of people to help you in your journey in various aspects. But before you start building a team, and delegating task, you need to know what you are really good at, and where you should spend your time and energy based on a combination of your personal passion and natural gifts. Once when you find that powerful combination, you can focus your time on building more of that, and hire or partner up with others in the areas that are not part of that magic combination.
Also, you have to be willing to try a lot of different things before you figure out what works for you. You have to be willing to fail in order to succeed. And you have to be willing to switch gears and pivot when you see things are not working out, and try something else.
Tell us a bit about the retreats you are planning with Travelpreneur Tribe.
All of our retreats are a little different but they are all filled with hands-on workshops, personalized 1-on-1 coaching, expert speakers, luxury accommodation and unforgettable travel experiences with like minded entrepreneurs.
During the 7 days intense workshops, the participants will go from generating and validating their idea to launching an online business. Our workshops are following the Lean Startup methodology that is based on “validated learning” process.
We are doing this by creating a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). Basically we are creating a product that needs minimum amount of functionality before it is ready to be put in front of your customer to begin the process of learning as quickly as possible.
That means we are getting customer feedback quickly and often before we spend too much time, money or resources on creating a product that nobody wants. And the only way to learn about your products and your customers is when you launch.
The mornings are spent on group workshops, planning your business, get 1-on-1 business coaching and in the afternoon you will have time to get hands on and start with the tasks that will get you to the next level.
We try to keep our retreats smaller for a group around 10 entrepreneurs, to make sure that you get the best value out of the sessions and a lot of personal TLC. There will be an option to enjoy dinners and celebrate your success with your new circle of entrepreneur friends, or explore the local places no matter where you are.
How can these retreats help others become successful?
We have a team of experts as part of our community from various areas in mindset, startup strategy, business, marketing, finance that are dedicated to guiding our participants in finally starting the business they’ve wanted to start for years but havent had the motivation, confidence, energy or time to actually get it done.
At the end of the retreat the participants will go home with:
A validated business idea
The tools to run your business anywhere in the world and become a location independent entrepreneur.
A defined, tested and proven MVP (Minimum Viable Product)
A prototype or landing page
A solid business plan, with feedback from industry experts, coaches and your peers
Defined marketing strategy on how to reach and retain customers
Launched product or service and putting live product in front of the customer
